Web 2.0 isn't just hype -- some 60 per cent of companies are already using technologies such as blogs, Ajax and mashups, according to a survey of delegates at the Internet World conference.
And over two-thirds (60 per cent) say they can see genuine business applications for these technologies, seeing them as a natural progression in the use of internet technology.
Almost 83 per cent, meanwhile, agreed that Web 2.0 was an online evolution rather than a radical step-change in the way people use the web.
Our take: Web 2.0 isn't just for teenagers - it is transforming the way we do business. Get up to speed now, or risk being left behind by your more web-savvy competitors.

Thanks for that, diggingit. I've now got it on order. Here's the Amazon link for those interested: http://tinyurl.com/2ava6n My personal favourite of books on these topics is 'The Cluetrain Manifesto' (an oldie but a goodie): http://tinyurl.com/yot53k

i think it depends on the openness of the culture - there is a great book Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble (the scobleiser from Microsoft) who gives great examples of cultures where it has worked and allowed transparency and authenticity such as at General Motors and Sun Microsystems.

I'm really interested in Web 2.0's effects on organisational culture - do you think 'hyperlinks subvert hierarchy'?
